Rowena
Ferguson was born in Manchester in 1939. She began her musical training
as a school girl, and at the age of 16 received a Council Open Scholarship
to study piano at the Royal Manchester College of Music, where she subsequently
received the ARMCM Performers Diploma with distinction. For the next decade
or so, Rowena pursued her career as a concert pianist, performing in numerous
provincial towns, in both soloist and concerto settings; her repertoire
consisting mainly of works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Liszt, Mozart,
and Schumann. In 1976 she moved to Edinburgh, where
5 years later, following an illness, she died at the age of 42. |
